Best Scones

This is the only scone recipe you will ever need. Feel free to customize it with whatever mix-ins you have available.
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 tbs baking powder
pinch of salt
1/3 cup cold butter, cubed
3/4 cup currants
1 orange
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream (plus more for brushing the tops of the scones)
1 egg
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt
Add the butter to the flour mixture; Use a pastry blender or two knives to combine it in with the flour mixture
Add the currants (or whatever mix-ins you choose)
In a separate bowl, whisk together the cream, egg, and zest from the orange
Combine wet and dry ingredients
Work dough into a disk about 6 inches in diameter and 1 1/2 inches thick (note there will be some flour crumbles left over in the bowl
Cut the disk into 8 triangles
Place scones on parchment lined baking sheet
Brush the tops with remaining heavy cream and sprinkle with sugar
Bake for 20 minutes
